US withdraws troops from Qatar base amid Iran tensions

While America has issued warnings of attacking Iran, orders have been given for some soldiers to leave Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which is America’s largest military center in the Middle East. According to Reuters reports, three sources who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that orders were given for some soldiers to leave the base by tonight.

Although soldiers have begun leaving Al Udeid, where approximately 10,000 American troops are stationed, information indicates this is not an order to evacuate the entire facility. A diplomat who spoke about this matter said this is “a change that has been made,” but the direct reason for this change is not yet clear. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has not yet officially released any statement regarding this matter.

This step has been taken at a time when the situation is very tense. As protesters participating in demonstrations in Iran are being killed, US President Donald Trump has issued warnings of attacking Iran. In response, Iran has stated that if America launches an attack first, they will target American military bases in neighboring countries with powerful strikes. Notably, during the exchange of attacks between Israel and Iran last year, Iran’s attacks also targeted this American base in Qatar.

Israeli military experts estimate that Trump has decided to directly intervene in the Iran matter. However, the timing and scale of any attack are not yet certain. Meanwhile, according to Iran’s state media, Ali Larijani, the country’s top security official, has been consulting with Qatar’s Foreign Minister and senior officials from the UAE and Turkey regarding this matter.
