Human rights organizations have revealed that over 2,000 people have died so far in the ongoing series of protests in Iran. The Human Rights Activists News Agency, based in the United States, disclosed that the death toll from the unrest occurring in the country since late last year has risen drastically.
According to the agency, despite the Iranian government cutting off internet services and obstructing communication channels, available information indicates that a large number of people have died in the past 17 days alone. The agency states that this figure includes 1,850 protesters and 135 individuals associated with the government. Additionally, reports indicate that civilians not participating in the protests have also lost their lives.
In connection with this, an Iranian government official has also confirmed that the death toll has reached 2,000. However, the official stated that “terrorists” must bear full responsibility for the unrest and the loss of life.
Regarding this issue, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that while the exact number of deaths in the protests could not be confirmed, the Iranian government would have to pay a heavy price for this. Furthermore, President Trump encouraged the people of Iran to continue the protests without stopping.
