Sangeetha Sornalingam, the wife of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and former popular South Indian film star C. Joseph Vijay (Thalapathy Vijay), has withdrawn the divorce petition she had filed against him in court.

According to reports, following Sangeetha’s withdrawal of the case, the Chengalpattu District Court has closed the matter. Sangeetha first filed the case in December last year. Although hearings began in February this year, they were repeatedly rescheduled around the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, and the case was delayed due to non-appearance by both parties.

In the petition filed by Sri Lankan-born Sangeetha, she alleged that Vijay had mentally mistreated her and engaged in acts of infidelity. She specifically accused Vijay of having a relationship with an actress and of neglecting her. Beyond dissolving the marriage, Sangeetha had also sought a place of residence and permanent financial support in the petition.

Vijay and Sangeetha married in the United Kingdom in 1998. They later held a lavish wedding ceremony in Chennai in 1999, and the couple has two children. While Vijay is regarded as one of the most influential stars in the South Indian film industry, Sangeetha is known for staying largely away from the media. Neither party has so far made any official statement regarding the divorce matter.
