MIRA collected 3.24 billion Rufiyaa revenue in December

Through the state tax authority (MIRA), the state received 3.24 billion Rufiyaa in revenue this past December. Statistics released by MIRA today show that the revenue collected last month is 17.4% higher than the amount previously forecasted for the period. Furthermore, this is a 30.7% increase compared to the revenue collected in December of the previous year. The revenue collected last month also includes 157.83 million received in US Dollars.

MIRA revealed that revenue exceeded expectations due to an increase in amounts received from tourism-related taxes and fees. Notable among these are Tourism Tax, Tourism Land Rent, Land Acquisition Costs, and revenue received as CSR fees. Additionally, the authority stated that the payment of some overdue taxes during last month was also a reason for the increase in revenue.

As usual, MIRA received the highest revenue from GST. GST accounts for 53.2% of the total revenue for December, which is 1.7 billion Rufiyaa. The second highest revenue was received from Tourism Land Rent, which was 16% of the total revenue or 518 million Rufiyaa.

In addition, looking at the details of the revenue received by the state, 218 million Rufiyaa was received as Green Tax, 191 million Rufiyaa as Departure Tax, and 176 million Rufiyaa as Airport Development Fee. MIRA’s statistics show that the 159 million Rufiyaa received as Income Tax accounted for 4.9% of the total revenue.
