Renowned Maldivian film director Abdul Fathaah dies suddenly

Renowned Maldivian film director Abdul Fathaah passed away suddenly today. According to information received, Fathaah experienced chest pain while in Kelaa around sunset and was taken to Kelaa Health Center, where he received emergency treatment before being transferred to Dhidhdhoo Hospital, according to family members.

Born on December 6, 1971, Fathaah was a highly acclaimed figure in Maldivian cinema. He made invaluable contributions to the film industry as a director, producer, editor, screenwriter, and choreographer.

Fathaah played a significant role in creating some of Maldivian cinema’s most successful films. In recognition of his work, he received numerous awards including four National Film Awards and two Maldives Film Awards. In 2004, the Maldivian government honored Fathaah with a National Award.
