National Program Named “Bingaa” Launches to Instill Good Morals in Students

With the noble objective of developing Maldivian school students into a generation adorned with beautiful morals and good character, the Ministry of Education has introduced a special educational program called “Bingaa” and instructed all schools to prepare for its implementation. According to the circular sent to schools for launching this program, the fundamental vision of the national curriculum is not merely to teach students book knowledge. Instead, the Ministry emphasizes that through the knowledge and skills taught, it is essential to prioritize making each child a responsible individual who is confident, colorful, caring, and respectful of one another within the formal education system.

The year-long “Bingaa” program will be implemented through different teams. Rather than being confined to school walls, this is a program designed to familiarize students with good habits with the full participation of parents and the entire community. The program will begin with the theme of “Gratitude.” In the future, before each month begins, the Ministry of Education will announce to schools the theme designated for that month.

A special committee has been established to systematically and effectively manage this important work. The committee’s responsibilities include determining monthly themes, sharing activities related to those themes with schools, and monitoring the program’s progress while assisting schools. Through the “Bingaa” program, schools will conduct numerous activities to instill in children good habits such as caring for religious obligations, showing respect, maintaining cleanliness, and taking responsibility.
