Today’s Friday sermon highlighted the importance of learning and teaching knowledge in Islam and the significance of teachers’ status. The sermon stated that teachers are the heirs of the prophets and they perform the noble duty of guiding humanity to the right path. It was noted that Allah bestows mercy upon those who teach people good, and angels, fish in the seas, and even ants in their holes pray for such individuals.
Themed “Build the Nation on a Solid Foundation of Education!”, today’s sermon strongly emphasized that students and the entire society should respect teachers. It reminded that knowledge is light (noor) and that this light can only be obtained through respect and proper conduct towards those who impart knowledge. It was stated that students respecting their teachers is essential for gaining the blessings (barakah) of knowledge. Students were advised to be humble before their teachers, listen to their advice, and act upon it.
Concluding the sermon, a call was made to value teachers and maintain the honor and dignity they deserve in society. Highlighting that the role teachers play in building the nation’s future is an important role that no other group can fulfill, the sermon appealed for teachers, parents, and students to work together to build a righteous generation.
