Maldives’ Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam has met with India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, currently underway in New York.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed further strengthening the relationship between the Maldives and India.

This is not the first time the two have met this year. In May, Iruthisham made an official visit to India at Jaishankar’s invitation. It was her first official trip abroad after assuming the post of foreign minister.

Iruthisham is the third foreign minister under the current government. Before taking up the post, she served as the Maldives’ High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
