President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said the Maldives’ close relationship with China has delivered significant benefits to the country. He made the remarks while addressing a reception held to mark the 77th National Day of the People’s Republic of China.

The President said relations between the two nations rest on mutual respect and described the partnership as a beneficial one that will continue to yield results in the future. He also highlighted the Free Trade Agreement signed between the two countries, noting that it is creating new opportunities.

Although the two nations are separated by a vast ocean, President Muizzu said their bond remains very close, and expressed hope that it would grow even stronger in the years ahead. He added that his state visit to China had opened a new chapter in the friendship between the two countries, and thanked China for its substantial support towards the Maldives’ development.
