People who sit in their living rooms with their eyes closed will never see the development projects being carried out by the government, PNC Chairperson and Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla has said.

Speaking at the Congress meeting held last night, Abdul Raheem said that when President Dr. Muizzu took office, opposition figures had claimed the country would go bankrupt within three months and that he would be forced to abandon the presidency. However, as the administration approaches its third year, President Muizzu has paid off over 900 million dollars in debt at once, and yesterday paid another 50 million dollars, he said, adding that he commends and salutes the President for this achievement.

Abdul Raheem said that true economic experts are not those who produce results merely by talking, and that one cannot be accepted as an economic expert simply by sitting comfortably in their living room criticizing others and claiming expertise.

He noted that even as the government pays off massive debts, work continues on the Rasmalé land reclamation project, and development projects across the islands are progressing without interruption. He said that visiting islands such as H.A. Dhihdhoo, Th. Vilufushi, Th. Gaadhiffushi, L. Maavah, Sh. Milandhoo, and Lh. Naifaru would reveal the scale of ongoing land reclamation projects, but those who sit in their living rooms with their eyes closed will never see what is happening outside.
