A 41-year-old Maldivian man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl on an island in the Upper South Police jurisdiction.

Police said a case was reported alleging that on August 31, the man — while in a position of trust — sexually abused the child, as well as inflicting physical and psychological harm on her. The man was arrested today on those allegations, and police are investigating the case.
