China, which sits at the top of the Maldives’ tourism market, has sent 190,016 tourists to the Maldives so far this year.
According to Tourism Ministry statistics, the number of tourists arriving from the Chinese market has crossed 190,000 as of the 15th of this month. This accounts for 16.8 percent of the 1.1 million total tourists to have visited the Maldives so far this year.
Russia is in second place after China, with 164,067 tourist arrivals. The United Kingdom is third with 91,574 tourists. Italy takes fourth place with 76,549 tourists, followed by Germany in fifth with 71,238.
The rest of the top 10 comprises India with 67,687 tourists, France with 30,471, the United States with 28,917, Australia with 26,878, and Switzerland with 22,473.
The Maldives’ tourism industry currently operates 1,304 facilities. These include 179 resorts, 936 guesthouses, 16 hotels and 173 tourist vessels. A total of 68,190 beds are being operated across these facilities.
