Students attend school only first week of Ramadan

The new academic calendar released by the Ministry of Education reveals that classes will be held in schools for only the first week of the upcoming Ramadan.

Following the major school holidays in December last year, the new academic year is scheduled to begin on the 27th of this January. Once school starts, classes will proceed for one month. The final week of this period coincides with the first week of Ramadan.

The Ministry of Education has decided that the period from March 1st to March 8th is dedicated to Teachers’ Professional Development (PD) activities. Therefore, students will not need to attend school during that week.

Additionally, as the last ten days of Ramadan begin on March 9th, and the government has designated these days as public holidays, there will be no school sessions during this period either.

According to the calendar, Eid al-Fitr falls on March 20th this year. The Ministry of Education informs that students will return to school on March 23rd following the Eid and Ramadan holidays.
