Applications for Land and Flats Under “Housing for All” Policy Open on Sunday

The Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development has decided to open applications for land plots and flats under the government’s “Housing for All” policy next Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 09:00 AM. Although the portal was initially scheduled to open today, the Ministry rescheduled the launch to avoid difficulties in providing support to the public during the weekend and to manage the anticipated high traffic from numerous applicants accessing the system simultaneously.

Under this scheme, 15,000 land plots and 7,900 flats have been allocated across the Greater Male’ area and Ras-Male’. Following public feedback, the guidelines have been revised to include specific quotas for Male’ natives and residents from other islands living in the city. Additionally, new categories have been introduced for taxi drivers and workers in the fisheries and tourism sectors. The scheme also allows individuals who previously received 1 or 2-bedroom flats to apply for 3-bedroom units based on their number of children.

Applications must be submitted online via the “Hiyaavehi Portal.” Eligibility requires applicants to have resided in Male’ for at least 15 years. The deadline for submitting applications is April 14th.
