Police inspect over 460 locations in security crackdown

The Maldives Police Service has revealed that over 460 locations were inspected within just the past two days as part of special measures undertaken to ensure safety and security in Malé and Hulhumalé.

According to police information, this operation is being led by the Gang Crime Suppression Department. Within the last 48 hours, 462 “hotspots”—areas identified as conducive to crime or gathering spots for criminals—were inspected. Additionally, the police stated that they questioned suspicious individuals during this time, resulting in 96 interactions.

In addition to inspecting locations, work was also carried out to check vehicles to maintain road safety. During this period, 16 vehicles were searched. Furthermore, regarding foot patrols conducted in various areas of Malé, police statistics show that officers spent over 19 hours on foot patrol.

The police have assured the public that such operations will continue uninterrupted in the future to establish a sense of peace and security in the hearts of residents living in the Malé area.
