According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, 79,004 tourists visited the Maldives by January 11th of the current month. This represents a 13.6 percent increase compared to the 69,553 tourists who visited during the same period in 2023.
During this period, the highest number of tourists arrived from the Russian market. Russia contributed 14,638 tourists, while Italy ranked second with 10,298 tourists. The United Kingdom placed third with 5,959 tourists, while the top ten tourism markets also included Germany, China, India, the USA, France, Kazakhstan, and Australia.
A large majority of tourists, specifically 77,935 people, entered the Maldives via Velana International Airport. Additionally, arrivals were recorded at Maafaru, Gan, Hanimaadhoo, Maamigili, and Dhaalu airports. Resorts remain the most popular choice for holidays; 54,573 tourists are currently staying in resorts, while 20,102 are staying in guesthouses. Statistics indicate that a total of 67,647 beds across resorts, hotels, guesthouses, and safaris are currently operational to serve tourists in the Maldives.
