Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has revealed that land reclamation for Phase 3, under the Hulhumalé development project, is progressing rapidly, with 55 hectares of land reclaimed so far.
According to the company, the project is proceeding at a fast pace, strictly adhering to the previously established schedule. With a total of 63 hectares planned for reclamation in Phase 3, the completion of 55 hectares indicates that a significant portion of the project is now nearing its conclusion.
After a temporary hiatus, reclamation work in the area resumed on the 10th of last November. Upon restarting, the government implemented special measures to accelerate the pace of the project. To this end, operations were expanded by deploying a 22,000-cubic-meter dredger from the Netherlands-based Boskalis company, one of the most renowned names in the industry.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the reclamation of Phase 3 will be fully completed before the end of the current month. Consequently, work is currently proceeding at high speed to finalize the remaining portion of the land.
