After the December holiday break, the People’s Majlis (Parliament) has decided to hold a special session outside regular sittings tomorrow for the first time. The session, scheduled for 9 AM, has three important bills on the agenda.
These include a government-submitted bill to amend the Constitution, which proposes shortening the current Majlis term and holding future parliamentary elections together with presidential elections. If this amendment passes, the current Majlis term will end on December 1, 2028.
Additionally, a bill to amend the Pension Law proposes establishing procedures for releasing pension funds when treatment for serious illnesses is required.
Also on the agenda is a bill to amend the Penal Code to stop gambling, which grants authority to impose prison sentences of between 1 and 4 years on those who gamble.
