In his New Year’s greeting speech, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that 2026 will be a year of achieving progress and success in turning people’s hopes into reality.

He noted that Maldivians are people who set firm goals and work to achieve more progress each year than the previous year. The President also said that Maldivians are determined to strengthen foundations every year for the nation’s development.

Marking 900 years since the Maldives embraced Islam in the Hijri calendar this year, he said this is a special historical opportunity for this generation of Maldivians. The President also noted that building loyal, capable citizens and bringing the Maldives to the ranks of developed nations is the government’s most important policy.

He reminded that every new year is a time to renew commitment to consider services that can be provided to the nation individually and socially, and to work for everyone’s benefit.
