Dhuvaafaru’s reclaimed land to get water, sewerage systems

An agreement was signed today to establish water and sewerage systems for the reclaimed land in R. Dhuvaafaru. The agreement was signed at a ceremony held during the President’s visit to the island to commemorate Fishermen’s Day, by Construction Minister Dr. Abdullah Muththalib and MWSC Managing Director Abdul Matheen.

According to MWSC, the project includes providing training programs for operating and maintaining Dhuvaafaru’s water system and supplying spare parts. The land reclamation work covering 22.2 hectares at a cost of 143.11 million rufiyaa has now been completed, and one of the main objectives of this reclamation is to provide housing solutions for the island’s population of over 4,900 residents. Dhuvaafaru, which was populated in 2010, is among the Maldives’ important islands.
