Two businessmen released in cigarette container theft case

Two businessmen who were detained pending trial in a case involving the theft of a large number of cigarettes from a container at MPL Hulhumale International Terminal in April this year have been released today.

Those released are Mohamed Waheed from B. Eydhafushi, Dhigali, and Ahmed Arif from M. Everglory. In addition to these two, Hassan Abdurrahman from K. Thulusdhoo, Link, has also been released with conditions.

The PG Office said these individuals were released due to lack of evidence of their practical involvement in the theft. Former customs officer Muaz Ali remains in detention in this case.
