The protagonist of a short story collection written by former President Mohamed Nasheed is named Hassan Kurusee, but he is not the Hassan Kurusee active on social media, according to the book’s publisher, “Ocean Publishers.”

According to a poster released by the publisher announcing the book, the protagonist has no connection to the Hassan Kurusee seen on X, Facebook and Instagram, and is a very different character in temperament and nature. The poster describes the book’s Hassan Kurusee as a thin man, not tall, with neither a belly nor a backside, a full head of hair, and now in his thirties.

The book, titled “Short Stories – The Late 80s,” is priced at MVR 250. Work is underway to release it at the end of next month, and the publisher says more than 100 people have already pre-ordered it.

Citing Nasheed, the publisher said the book is being released to earn additional income, as he is facing financial difficulties due to rising prices and cuts to a large portion of the allowances given to former presidents.
