Construction on the Villimalé hospital and the road development project for Malé and Villimalé, both funded by the Chinese government, is expected to begin by the end of this year or early next year, according to Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua.

The ambassador shared the update today while speaking at a ceremony held to mark the 77th National Day of the People’s Republic of China. He said the China-Maldives Friendship Hospital, to be built in Villimalé, is currently at the bidding stage, while the road project for Malé and Villimalé is in the design phase.

In addition to these two projects, Ambassador Kong noted that work on building council offices in various islands is also progressing.
