A nine-year-old girl who was receiving treatment after sustaining serious injuries in a dangerous accident in Hulhumalé Phase Two has passed away.

Police say the accident, which occurred near Vinares 7 on Hithigasmagu, happened when a motorcycle travelling along Hithigasmagu struck the child, who was walking along the side of the road in order to get into a car that was parked in the area. A police media official stated that this has been confirmed based on the CCTV footage reviewed so far.

According to police, the motorcycle was being ridden by an 18-year-old Maldivian woman, who also sustained injuries and was released after receiving treatment.

Until her passing, the child was receiving treatment on a ventilator in the ICU at IGMH. Her father confirmed the news of her death through a post on Facebook.
