Iran has launched drone attacks targeting US military bases and logistics centres established in Kuwait.

Iran’s Fars news agency, citing confirmation from the country’s military, reported that the main aim of these strikes was to demonstrate the country’s military strength to the region and the world. A statement issued by the military said that, drawing on history, popular support and battlefield experience, it would stand firm against every pressure and act of intimidation. The statement also said the country’s armed forces are a powerful force ready at any moment to respond to any attack.

Although neither the United States nor the government of Kuwait has officially commented on the strikes, analysts monitoring the region are describing this as a dangerous step that could further destabilise the Middle East and pave the way for a regional war. The international community has also expressed deep concern over the incident.
