President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Finance Minister Musa Zameer as the Chairman of the Board of the Local Government Authority (LGA). This appointment comes following the resignation of Local Government Minister Adam Shareef from the position, at the direction of the President.

Alongside these changes, the government has amended legislation to dissolve all atoll councils across the Maldives. Under the new government policy, an LGA office will be established in each atoll to replace the councils, and the government has also decided to appoint political employees to staff these offices.
