Sheikh Muhammad Shifan has been elected as President of the Adalath Party’s fourth term, the second oldest party active in the Maldives’ political arena. In yesterday’s election, Shifan won this position with a large majority, obtaining 99 percent of the votes cast.

In this election conducted online through the “Fahivashi” portal, Al-Ustaaz Ikram Abdussattar, who competed against Sheikh Shifan, received only one percent of the votes cast. Additionally, Sheikh Abdullah Rasheed has been elected as the party’s Deputy President after winning that vote.

Upon announcement of the election results, Sheikh Imran Abdullah, who served as the party’s third term President, welcomed the newly elected leadership. He also gave assurance of full cooperation in arranging matters to hold the congress and hand over the party’s management to a new generation, in accordance with the party’s constitution.

Members of Adalath Party, which has 8,267 members registered in the Elections Commission’s register, hope that with the election of a new president, the party’s future political activities will gain new momentum.
