Home Ministry State Minister Abdul Majeed dismissed

Abdul Majeed, who served as State Minister at the Ministry of Home Affairs and National Security (Home Ministry), was dismissed from his position today by a decision of the President. Confirming this, the ministry’s spokesperson Fathimath Rifath said that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu removed Majeed from his position earlier today under the authority granted by the Constitution. However, no specific reason for the dismissal has been disclosed by the relevant government authorities.

At the time of his dismissal, Abdul Majeed held responsibility for two of the most important departments under the Home Ministry. He served as head of the Foreign Labor Department, which oversees matters related to foreign workers in the Maldives, and was also in charge of running the Department of National Registration (DNR), which handles matters related to Maldivian citizens’ identity cards and registration.
