he Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has revealed that 94 percent of the Hulhumalé Phase 3 reclamation project is complete, as work progresses rapidly on this vital initiative designed to solve the housing crisis in the Malé area. According to the company, over 59 hectares of land have been reclaimed so far. Two modern 22,000-cubic-meter dredgers, “Prins der Nederlanden” and “Oranje,” are being utilized to carry out this mega project.

In addition to Hulhumalé Phase 3, the reclamation of Giravarufalhu, Gulhifalhu, and Uthuruthilafalhu are projects being prioritized by the government to find a permanent solution to the housing difficulties faced by residents in the Malé region. The government’s goal is to complete these works as soon as possible to facilitate housing opportunities for the people.
