A baby has been born for the first time following IVF treatment at the National Fertility Center established at Dharumavantha Hospital. The baby was delivered yesterday, and the hospital has confirmed that both the mother and the child are in good health.
Sharing this news, the CEO of Male’ Group of Hospitals, Abdul Razzaq Haleem, stated that this offers new hope for families seeking treatment for fertility issues in the Maldives. He also expressed his gratitude to the Fertility Center team and other hospital departments who worked hard to achieve this historic milestone.
The CEO noted that the center, opened in November 2024 in line with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s presidential pledge, has brought an end to the high costs and burdens associated with traveling abroad for fertility treatment. He further thanked the President for the government’s arrangement to provide this service completely free of charge under Aasandha.
In addition to Dharumavantha Hospital, IVF services are currently provided in the Maldives by Tree Top Hospital.
