Information about a dead body floating in the sea near R. Kinolhas was received on Sunday afternoon at 4:24 PM. Police said on Monday that the body was so badly decomposed and damaged that it has not yet been determined whether it is male or female.

Police have stated that they are taking forensic samples needed for the investigation related to the incident and completing the necessary procedures. During periods of bad weather, incidents of people falling into the sea and dying do occur in the Maldives.
