The People’s National Front (PNF) today announced that former National Tender Board Chairman Ismail Zariyandh will contest for Malé City mayor on the party’s ticket in the upcoming local council elections.

Zariyandh made the announcement at the “Reset” rally held at Artificial Beach. Speaking at the rally, Zariyandh said he decided to run for Malé mayor with the encouragement of PNF leader and former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom. He noted that no political leader had made such a request to him before.

Zariyandh has worked at the Auditor General’s Office for more than 20 years and has also worked at the Finance Ministry and various government institutions. Additionally, he was a goalkeeper for the Maldives national football team.
