97 election-related cases, 52 cases under investigation

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has revealed that it is looking into 52 of the cases filed in connection with the presidential elections.

According to the agency, the total number of cases filed with the commission in connection with the presidential elections was 97. The Commission said a total of three cases have been referred to the commission by political parties directly in connection with the elections so far.

ACC added that the National Complaints Bureau of the Election Commission had filed five cases, 27 cases of individuals, one by state agencies and 61 cases without knowing who. In the 97 cases filed with the commission, it was found that complaints related to one thing were repeated and filed.

Out of the total number of cases filed, 52 are being registered and examined, said the Commission. The cases registered include 36 cases of electoral bribery, 11 cases of interference and five cases of misuse of public property, the agency said.

The opposition has accused the government of using state resources in the last elections. It has also been alleged that employees of state-owned companies were threatened with jobs and asked to vote for a particular person.
