Dr. Muizz has been elected as the president of the PNC, Sembe as vice president.

The President-elect Dr. Muizz has been elected as the President-elect of PNC, and Vice President-elect Hussain Mohamed Latheef (Sembe) has been elected as the vice-president of the party at the PNC council meeting held this evening.

The party’s council also approved the appointment of Sembe as vice-president. With this, Abdul Raheem has been appointed as the chairperson of PNC. Abdul Raheem has so far served as president of the PNC.

The change was made to ensure that the two party leaders are appropriately honoured, as they were elected to the post of president and vice-president of the country.

The change was also effected by changing the party’s constitutional rules.

Vice President-elect Hussain Mohamed Latheef attended the council meeting. And, the vice-president-elect has also gone to the council and met with the council members.

In the Maldives, the president who is usually in power is designated by each party as the head of the party represented.

As Dr Muizzu’s becomes President of PNC, president Yameen remains the party president of PPM. President-elect. Muizzai and Vice President Sembe will be sworn in on May 17.
