Kaafu Atoll Guraidhoo MP Ibrahim Riza passed away in Malaysia last night.

MP Riza has ben receiving treatment for Cancer illness for a long period of time, and  passed away while undergoing treatment for cancer.

He has been living abroad for sometime while receiving treatment for the terminal illness.

MP Riza was a member of the main opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and also a Senator offor the party.

He had previously served as a member of 18th parliament  from 2014–2019. During former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration, he served as a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), on behalf of the then ruling party PPM.

MP Riza also served as a Vice President of the JSC, who was a prominent lawyer by profession.

President Solih extended condolence to his family and loved ones. The opposition PPM also offered condolence on behalf of President Yameen and party members, to the lawmaker’s family during this difficult time.
