President-elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said that the government will fully pay attention to the Victory Day from 2024 onwards.
Dr. Muizzu, in a tweet on the occasion of the 35th Victory Day of the Maldives, extended his greetings and good wishes to all Maldivians.
In his tweet the President-elect said that the incoming government would pay full attention to The Victory Day from 2024 onwards, in order to make it easier for the youth to understand and be fully informed about the day.
His remarks came in the wake of the current government’s lack of attention to the Victory Day in last five years. The current government is accused of not paying full attention to the Victory Day, which has been celebrated in the Maldives for many years in the past.
In particular, the Victory Day was heavily covered by the state media in the past, but the day was left out of the priority list, and was not given proper attention during the past 5 years.
Maldives Victory Day is observed every year on November 3 to celebrate the victory of the Government of Maldives over the coup d’etat by a militant group called the People’s Liberation Organization of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE). The day is an annual celebration held across the country of Maldives and is a federal holiday.
At least 19 locals were martyred in the flight.
