The number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives this year has reached 1.5 million. The figure reached 1.5 million, a month ahead of last year’s target. This is an increase of 13 per cent.

Last year, the number of tourists visiting the Maldives reached 1.5 million in December that year. However, the government’s target this year is to attract 1.9 million tourists. To reach this milestone, a total of 400,000 tourists will have to visit the Maldives in the next two months.

According to the Tourism Ministry, 5,000 tourists have visited the Maldives on average every day so far this year. The highest number of tourist arrivals this year came from Russia. That’s 172,000 tourists. A total of 163,000 tourists arrived from India and China. The Maldives received 121,000 tourists from the UK, which is fourth on the list.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, it will not be difficult to achieve the target of 1.9 million tourist arrivals in the Maldives within the next two months. An average of 150,000 tourists visited the Maldives every month this year.
