President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was presented with the jersey of the national volleyball team competing in the 4 Nations Cup, the first international sporting event hosted in the Maldives this year. Ahmed Mahloof, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, presented the jersey to President Solih at a function held at the President’s Office last week.
The national volleyball teams from Singapore, Malaysia, Afghanistan, and the Maldives will compete in the men’s division, while the women’s volleyball teams from Singapore, Malaysia, and the Maldives will compete in the tournament. It is the first invitation-only volleyball tournament hosted by the Maldives. The tournament will be held at the Maldives Center for Social Education (MCSE) from February 23-27, 2023.
International sporting events are being hosted in the Maldives as a pledge of President Solih’s administration. The administration is also working towards providing equal opportunities for the development of all sports.
Under these efforts, the Maldives volleyball teams are holding sports camps for the first time in Europe and the Middle East. The men’s and women’s national volleyball teams are currently in Thailand in preparation for the 4 Nations Cup.
