Tourism Ministry records has shown that the annual tourist arrivals to the Maldives has increased by 26.9 percent this year, compared to last year.

It was recorded that 1,607,314 tourists have arrived so far this year and the Maldives exceeded the arrival target set for this year when the 1.6 millionth tourist was welcomed on December 20, 2022. In 2021, by the end of the year tourist arrival was recored to be 1,266,735.

Despite the significant increment in tourist arrival foe this year, the number of arrivals are still 1.9 percent lower than the pre pandemic years. In 2019 tourist arrival was recorded at 1,638,798.

Records from Tourism Ministry shows that a total of 33 international carriers had made regular flights to the Maldives by December 21, which includes  Air France, British Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Saudi Arabian Airlines.
