President H.E. Dr Mohamed Muizzu has arrived in New Delhi, the capital city of India, to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister H.E. Narendra Modi and the Council of Ministers of the Government of India. The President is attending the ceremony at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi.
Upon arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport, the President was received by one of the senior most officials currently at the Ministry of External Affairs, H.E. Pavan Kapoor, Secretary (West), and H.E. Mr Ibrahim Shaheeb, High Commissioner of Maldives to India, as well as H.E. Munu Mahawar, High Commissioner of the Republic of India to the Maldives.
The swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister H.E. Modi and the Council of Ministers is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 9, with leaders from neighbouring and other countries in attendance.
Prime Minister H.E. Modi is being sworn in for a third consecutive term in office. President Dr Muizzu has conveyed his congratulations to Prime Minister Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for their victory in the Indian General Elections of 2024.
