The Election Commission (EC) has approved the formation of the new political party PNF formed by President Yameen.

Members of the team leading the formation of the PNF had yesterday visited the Election Commission to take over the permission to form the PNF. Among them is former Vice-President Jameel, former Minister Maleeh and others who had previously been at the helm of affairs in the party were also included.

EC President Fuad Taufeeq granted permission to form the party. EC Vice-President Ismail Habeeb and several other members were also present at the meeting. The Election Commission day before yesterday discussed the issues to be taken before forming the political party formed by President Yameen.

The new political party is being formed in the name of President Yameen’s son, Zein. Besides him, former vice president and Yameen’s senior lawyer Dr. Jameel is leading the formation of the new political party with among others, Ahmed Mustafa, who served as chief of staff in Yameen’s government, and former Police Commissioner Hussain Waheed.

President Yameen left the party on Thursday night. He said he left the party because the leadership had distanced himself from him. However, PPM leaders said that President Yameen had distanced himself from them and President Yameen’s decisions have been led by Dr. Jameel.
