A code of conduct for members of Parliament to be framed

Newly-elected Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Aslam has said that he will work to complete the formulation of a disciplinary regulation to be followed by the lawmakers.

Aslam made the remarks while commencing the parliament session for today. Speaking during the session, Aslam said that the Speaker of the Parliament is the head of implementing the decisions taken by the members of the House in accordance with the Constitution and the rules of the House.

Aslam said that it is also the responsibility of the Speaker of the Parliament to uphold the rules of the Parliament and to prevent any violation of the rules of the Parliament.

As one step, previous Parliaments have tried to formulate a regulation of disciplinary procedures to be followed by the members of parliament as defined in Article 88A, 2 of the Constitution. Efforts have been made in the previous Parliaments, but since no efforts have been made in this 19th Parliament, I would like to say that I will work on the disciplinary rules to be followed by the members of this Parliament mentioned in the Constitution and will work in the future to ensure that it can be passed with your cooperation.
