The Government of the Republic of Maldives has condemned the Israeli bombing of the headquarters of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza.
In a statement the Foreign Ministry said the assaults that target civilians and civilian infrastructure represent a clear violation of international humanitarian law and are wholly unacceptable.
The ongoing military aggression and actions amounting to war crimes by Israel is already claiming the lives of innocent civilians, destroying critical infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, aid facilities, residential buildings, and places of worship.
The Government of Maldives reiterated its call to the international community to take strong decisive actions to cease attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure and reiterated its call for an immediate and sustained humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, along with the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.
The statement also said the Government and the people of Maldives will always stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine in supporting their right to self-determination. Foreign Ministry said that Maldives believed that a sustainable solution to the conflict can only be achieved by establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem, based on the pre-1967 borders.
