President to address nation tomorrow

President Solih is scheduled to address the nation tomorrow on the occasion of Republic Day.  President Solih will address the nation tomorrow at 10 am. The president’s speech will also be broadcast on several tv channels across the country.

Every year, Republic Day is celebrated to coincide with the country’s transition to the republic for the second time. The maldives became a republic for the second time on November 11, 1968. Ibrahim Nasir was the first president of the second Republic.

On January 1, 1953, the government of the Maldives became a republic for the first time. Mohamed Ameen was the president of the first Republic. The regime lasted only seven months. After the dissolution of the republic, the country’s rule was once again turned into a monarchy. The country’s government became a monarchy on March 7, 1954. This time it was Sultan Muhammad Farid al-Awwal who took over the throne.

Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is the sixth President of the Second Republic of the Maldives. The seventh president of the second republic is scheduled to be sworn in on May 17.
