Maldives Correctional Service has threatened to terminate exemption order given for the former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

A corrections official said it had been found that Yameen was being subjected to violations of the exemption order. Therefore, Yameen has now been warned to follow instructions given in the exemption order, and action will be taken if there is any violation, he said.

It has been conveyed that if repeated, the declaration can be revoked.

President Yameen, who is currently serving a prison sentence in Maafushi Prison, was placed under house arrest with DR. Mohamed Muizzu winning the Presidnetial election.

When Dr. Muizzu took to the podium for the first time after winning the election, he said that yameen should be transferred to his home under the authority of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. Not long after Muizzu made the request, it was seen that Yameen had been transferred to his home.

On Saturday, the corrections department announced a slew of relaxations that allow Yameen to go out for medical purposes. However, it was seen that Yameen went to the PPM office and met with ppm supporters. Yameen also spoke on the podium while attending a public meeting held at ppm office on Monday night. On Friday, a special meeting will be held to meet the residents of The Hiyaa Flat.
