The final results of the second round of presidential elections were announced this evening.
Going by the official results of the second round, the opposition candidate Mohamed Muizzu secured 1,29,159 votes. MDP’s presidential candidate, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, received 1,09,868 votes.
According to the results, there was a difference of more than 19,291 votes between President Solih and Dr. Muizzu.
This is the first candidate to win the election in the second and first rounds of a presidential election.
Dr. Muizzu won the second round of the presidential election against President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, and the transition process began the next day after election.
A special committee has already been formed in this regard.
Dr. Muizzu is the mayor of Male’ City. He served as the Housing Minister during Mohamed Waheed’s administration and former president Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration. President-elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu will be sworn in as president on November 17, 2020.
