The Maldives National Party (MNP) has has handed over Party Presidential ticket to its leader Colonel Ahmed Nazim and launched its “Ujala Zamaan” presidential campaign, in an event held at artificial beach last night.

The presidential ticket, made in the form of shield with MNP colours, resembled that was used by heroes who fought national battles.

In the colourful event, Nazim’s presidential campaign theme of “Ujjala Zamaan” (bright Era) campaigned coupled with campaign theme song was also unveiled .

Nazim won MNP’s presidential ticket uncontested, as he was the sole candidate filed application for the position.

This year’s Presidential Election will be held on September 9, 2023. Applications will be opened for candidates to file their candidatures 3rd to August 3.

In case of a second round in the presidential election, runoff voting will be held on 30th September, 21 days after the first round, as stipulated by the law.
