Distribution of Saudi-donated 50-ton dates will begin tomorrow

The distribution of the 50 tons of dates donated to the Maldives by the government of Saudi Arabia will begin on Sunday, states the Maldives Ministry of islamic Affairs.

The Ministry stated that, while distributing dates, priority will be given to low-income households around Male’ area and atolls.

Islamic Ministry informed that dates will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis, only after each household under priority receives minimum one packet of dates.

After each low-income household is delivered with one packet, the remaining will be distributed on the basis of 26 packets for every 100 households.

Date distribution is to be proceeded from this Sunday to next week’s Thursday. Ministry stated that the distribution will take place from 9:30am to 12:30pm on all working days at the lobby area of the Islamic Centre.

Island Councils will be distributing Dates to Atolls and Islands, as per the list of households forwarded to the Islamic Ministry this year.
