The Agreement on Mutual Visa Exemption between Maldives & China has officially entered into force, announces Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In a tweet Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid stated that Maldivians will be able to travel to China without a visa on a 30 day visa-free basis. Agreement was signed during visit of State Councillor Wang Yi in Jan 2022.
The Agreement that was signed in June 2022 did not come into force due to the measures put in place by the Chinese Government against the Covid-19 outbreak.
Under the agreement, Maldivians will also be given a 30-day on-arrival visa from China.
The 30-day visa is available for tourism purposes. Those who visit for the purpose of work or business, as well as reporters, are still required to obtain a visa in advance.
