The India External Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar has arrived on an Official Visit to Maldives this afternoon.
The External Affairs Minister was received at Maafaru International Airport, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President of the Noonu Atoll Council and members of the Noonu Maafaru Council.
The Foreign Ministry reveals that, during the visit Jaishankar is scheduled to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony of Hanimaadhoo International Airport Development Project, being constructed under Indian Line of Credit. During the visit, the Minister will also call on the President of the President Solih and Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid.
Ministry also stated that both the Ministers are scheduled to hold official talks and witness the exchange of several Memorandums of Understanding between the two countries at a ceremony to be held in Noonu Manadhoo. Jaishankar is also scheduled to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the Shaviyani Foakaidhoo Community Centre. Additionally, during the visit, Jaishankar will be travelling to Haa Alif Utheemu and will take a tour to the historical sites.
This is Minister Dr. Jaishankar’s fourth visit to the Maldives, in his capacity as the Minister of External Affairs of India. His last visit was in March 2022 to Addu City.
